I was shocked, shocked I tell you,to find out that we are still at war with Iraq. NPR finally had a story that told me so and looking back I could be forgiven for thinking it was all over based on the coverage it (and Afghanistan) have been getting for the last 6 months.
Contrast that with the endless stream of silly coverage of every comment that comes out of Obama's mouth no matter how trivial and worse, no matter how many endless times we have heard them over and over and over again. We don't care that Obama is on another trivial, couple of hours stop over in Mexico for instance, with all the endless speculation about what they are going to talk about and no real news.
I have a suggestion. How about simply saying Obama is in Mexico today visiting the the president of Mexico? If they actually say something new instead of the same old banalities that always come out of Obama's mouth that would be news. Meanwhile NPR could actually use that saved time to give us some news. The election is over. NPR no longer has to shill for Obama , at least not for the next 2 years and our soldiers might appreciate being part of the news every day since the war(s) are ongoing.
Besides in my mind when America is supposed to be at war, Americans need to be made aware of that fact every day. They must not be allowed to forget that their blood and treasure is being spent even if they don't want to hear it and would rather watch American Idol (or in this case Presidential Idol). It is called shared sacrifice.
